Artemis II - Burgundy - Twilly
Artemis is a goddess of paradoxes and extremes: she is both a protector and hunter of wild animals, the embodiment of both tenderness and great violence, and she presides over both virginity and childbirth. But of course, her “virginity” is not chastity as we know it; rather, it is self-governance and total autonomy, separate from the world of men. She defies the destiny of patriarchal ownership through marriage and motherhood that is the only path laid forth for many ancient and modern women across the globe, and instead lives a life that is never surrendered to any man.
She offers us uncompromising clarity of self, and an example of what it looks like to fiercely maintain one’s boundaries and bodily autonomy.
Scattered across this pure silk twill scarf on a background of dried blood burgundy are symbols of her divinity: cypress branches sacred to her wild temple, a crescent moon connecting her to the night, a silver serpent referencing her early origins as a Minoan Mistress of Animals, honeybees connecting her to Ephesus, golden arrows of the hunt, a blood streaked hunting knife with a stag horn hilt, and a flaming torch to guide her way and protect those under her care.
This long silk scarf is constructed from two layers of pure silk twill, with vivid digital printing on both sides. It looks fabulous when worn as a cravat, a belt, a headband, a hairbow, decorating a purse, or however you wish to style it.
But if you ask me, the best way to wear this scarf is while sipping a cup of Huntress tea. For this release, I’ve collaborated with Old Growth Alchemy to share with you all the perfect cup of herbal tea that imagines what a night in Artemis’ sacred grove would taste like. Cedar, lemon balm, honeybush, rosemary, and calendula combine in a cup that’s woodsy, herbaceous, complex, and entirely delicious. And as with my scarves, this blend of tea won’t be around forever…
This scarf is limited to an edition of only 75 silk scarves released in 2026 and will never be reprinted.
